Northolt Library refurbishment

Northolt Library’s transformation into a modern community, learning and information centre is well underway at the Church Road site.

The £1.5m facelift will expand and improve the building, enabling it to offer a range of community led events, in tandem with its established education and information services.

The Big Lottery Fund Community Libraries project has contributed £1.28m, alongside £300,000 of investment by Ealing Council, to provide a large community room, expanded computer suite, dedicated youth area, surgery room and a sensory garden. A large range of events is planned from keep fit classes to charity projects and PCT advice surgeries to reading groups and people are urged to get involved.

Extended opening hours will also allow an expanded system of learning and support to take place, including careers advice, parenting skills and computer courses.

Work on the Bissett Adams designed building is progressing on schedule and the revamped library is set to open in September 2009.

Library staff remain in a temporary library to the left of the main site, which currently opens for the usual hours.

As it is your community centre, the council would like your input on the events and activities taking place.
