All Ealing Libraries from July-August
For ages 4-11
As part of the annual Summer Reading Challenge, Ealing libraries are inviting young people to have fun reading at least six books during the summer holidays and collecting stickers and small prizes along the way. This year’s theme is ‘Space Hop’. It encourages you to go out of this world with your imagination and discover the joy of reading.

Come along and sign up to the summer reading scheme, borrow
some of the new space-theme books, listen to some story-readings,
and get going on your Space Hop journey.
Design a library card competition
For ages 3-10 years
Closing date: 30 July 2010
Create a new design for the children’s library membership
card with the theme ‘Space Hop’. The two winning designs will be
printed on real library cards and the winners will receive a book
token and a free book.

Zoom Zoom edu-play storytelling
for younger children
For ages 3-6 years
Inspired by the theme of this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, younger children can get into the ‘ Space Hop’ mood with fun storytelling sessions from local storyteller Sheda. Come along and enjoy hearing about the adventures of Zoom Zoom and friends as they travel to different planets.

Meet
the
Gruffalo
Are you brave enough to meet the Gruffalo? "He has
terrible tusks and terrible claws, and terrible teeth in his
terrible jaws." Meet the famous character from the stories by Julia
Donaldson with illustrations by Alex Sheffler. Bring along your
camera and take a picture of your child with the Gruffalo. The
session will include join-in reading aloud from the Gruffalo books
and Gruffalo colouring activities.
