South Acton estate

South Acton is the council's largest estate. The area was originally developed in the 1850s. The estate was then redeveloped from 1949 into the large tower block estate that we know today. This redevelopment took over 30 years to complete.
In 1999, following consultation with the community, the council started a major investment programme on the estate.
To date the council has:
- demolished seven blocks enabling the redevelopment of 346 homes built and managed by Catalyst Housing Group for rent and shared ownership
- improved six blocks
- developed the new Oaktree Community Centre
The council, in consultation with residents, has selected London and Quadrant and Countryside to carry out the remaining regeneration work on the estate.
Due to the scale and complexity of the work it is likely that full regeneration of the estate will take ten years to be completed.
