Teaching and learning – ‘Outstanding’
We believe that all students are intelligent in
different ways. Learning should be fun and it does not have to take
place in the classroom. A wireless infrastructure supports over
1000 laptops. Class sizes are small across the school.
The school’s ethos is one of purposeful learning.
Achievements and standards – ‘Good’
Student progress is central to the aims of the
school. It is our goal that all students fulfil their potential.
Key Stage 4 results place the school in the top 2% nationally of
progress made by pupils KS2-4.
Students make good academic progress. In 2009, 79% of students achieved 5 A*- C grades at GCSE.

The curriculum provides our students with the
opportunities to make progress. All students are encouraged to take
advantage of extended learning opportunities and enrichment
events.

We aim to realise the potential of all students
irrespective of background, heritage, class, gender or ability.
Students who need it, have in-class assistance from a learning
support assistant. Students who are experiencing barriers to their
learning have access to a learning mentor.

Sixth form
The £8 million building opened in September 2009
with state of the art facilities. Courses on offer include level I,
II and III courses and Young Apprenticeships in a wide range of
popular subjects. The results are very good and the support for the
university application process is excellent.
