Applying for a primary school place
If your child was born between 1 September 2004 and 31 August 2005 s/he will be eligible to start school within the London Borough of Ealing in September 2009. Ealing Council is the local authority (LA) for Ealing.
The deadline for primary school applications is 5 December 2008.
What you need to do:
- Complete all sections of Ealing’s common application form (pdf) or apply online.
- List, in order of preference, the names of three different state-maintained primary schools or academies.
- Attach proof of address and date of birth
- Attach supporting documentation for any extraordinary medical or social circumstances.
- Submit your completed paper application form or a copy of your online form to your preferred primary school.
- For confirmation of receipt, enclose a stamped, addressed envelope with your child’s name and date of birth on the back.*
The closing date for receipt of all applications, either paper or online, is 5 December 2008.
* If you think your application form has been lost by the school, you must have proof of receipt.
What we will do:

Rank your application by the admissions criteria for each of your preferred schools.

Send you a letter by first class post on 1 April 2009 to let you know the outcome of your application.

If you applied online, you will be able to find out the outcome of your application by logging in to the eAdmissions website on 2 April 2009.

If we cannot offer you a place at your preferred school(s) and you live in Ealing, we will offer you a place at a school with a vacancy, if possible, or:

you can request to be put on the waiting list

you have the right to appeal to an independent panel

If we cannot offer you a place at your preferred school(s) and you do not live in Ealing, we advise you to contact your home LA for a school place.

Letters will be addressed to parents at the child's address.*
* If parents are separated or divorced, letters will be addressed to the parent completing the application form. Ealing assumes that any application is the result of agreement between both parents.
