Uniform grants
Eligibility
Your child is eligible for a uniform grant if you are
receiving Income Support, Job Seekers Allowance (income based) or
Incapacity Benefit and your child is in reception year or year
groups three or five in primary schools or
year groups seven or nine in high schools.
If your child is eligible you will receive a cheque to the value of:
£40 for primary school pupils
£60 for high school pupils
Parents will receive a letter confirming that their child's/children's entitlement to a uniform grant.
Cheques will be made payable to the parent or guardian.
Change of circumstances
Parents should notify the council of any changes
for example:

if you start work and come off benefit or change benefits

if you change address

if your child changes school
Eligibility review
Eligibility will be reviewed annually and an
application or a declaration form will be sent
automatically.
Appeal arrangements
Parents may appeal against the decision not to provide a
uniform grant. The appeal must be made in writing with supporting
evidence if appropriate.
