Elthorne Park

Ealing Council is spending £200,000 on a skate park for the borough after a residents' survey highlighed more people think there should be additional facilities for youngsters.

The council has been consulting residents on the proposals after Elthorne Park was identified as a suitable location.

Results reveal 67% of all repondents are in favour of the skate park being built on the park site. More than 700 people who live within a mile and a half of the park responded to the questionnaire (pdf) and 61.9% said they would rather have the skate park in Elthorne Park. Out of the 405 people who shared their views online, 76.3% said the park was their preferred location.

Those in favour of the skate park said it would encourage exercise and healthy living, it gives young people something to do and creates a place to skate away from busy roads and pedestrians.

Following the consultation the council has decided to proceed with the skate park. The matter will now progress to the planning process. The consultation did bring forward some issues that residents want further information and reassurance on. These will be addressed as part of the planning process. Residents will have a further chance to comment as part of this process.
