In 2008 the council voted to abolish the old area committees in favour of 23 ward forums, with the aim of getting more people involved. The first of the new ward forums began in September 2008.
Led by ward councillors, the forums feature joint problem solving on local concerns, including round table discussions on issues such as community safety, traffic and transport schemes, parks and street improvements. Plus each ward has the chance to influence an annual budget of £40,000 for local improvements.
Forums meet at least three times a year.
The Ward Forums are: Acton Central, Cleveland, Dormers Wells, Ealing Broadway, Ealing Common, East Acton, Elthorne, Greenford Broadway, Greenford Green, Hanger Hill, Hobbayne, Lady Margaret, North Greenford, Northfields, Northolt Mandeville, Northolt West End, Norwood Green, Perivale, South Acton, Southall Broadway, Southall Green, Southfield and Walpole.
