An Ealing youth centre is to be transformed into a one-stop-shop for young people’s sport, music and training.
The W13 Youth and Connexions Centre, on Churchfield Road, received a £2million redevelopment grant after a successful bid by Ealing Council to a national Government fund.
The grant will see a range of new facilities installed at the centre including a recording studio, multi-use gym, training kitchen with three cooking areas and a sensory room aimed at young people with learning disorders and difficulties.
The refurbished centre will also boast a sports hall with changing rooms, consultation rooms for health services and work spaces for professionals who work with young people.
Ealing Council’s Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Councillor Ian Gibb, said: “This is an exciting opportunity to build a 21st century centre for Ealing’s young people.
"By offering a range of services and activities under the one roof, we hope to cater for the creativity, diversity and energy of local young people and engage them in a positive, practical way."
The redevelopment of the Youth and Connexions Centre will be
subject to planning approval and public consultation.
