A blessing took place today to celebrate the start of the £28million refurbishment and rebuilding programme at The Cardinal Wiseman School, Greenford.

The project is part of Ealing’s reduced Building Schools for the Future programme.

Students, staff, Headteacher Michael Kiely, Councillor Julian Bell, Leader of Ealing Council and Virendra Sharma MP joined Bishop George Stack, Auxillary Bishop of Westminster, at the event.  The school’s junior choir opened and closed the ceremony.

Councillor Bell said: “This is a very happy occasion. I know the struggles that the school have gone through to get to this point, especially when it looked as though the funding was going to be removed by the government.

“As important as good buildings are, it is people who really make a school and I wish everyone here the best of luck over the next three years and look forward to seeing you all again at the official opening.”
