Ealing honours the Queen with Jubilee paving stone

Council plans to install a paving stone celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee have been given official approval.

Ealing Town Hall
Previously the council's request to place the stone at the entrance to Ealing Town Hall was turned down because the building was not considered to be of ‘outstanding national importance’.

But, in a change of heart, government officials have confirmed that a ‘souvenir’ paving stone could now be installed.

Council Leader, Julian Bell said: “I’m very pleased that common sense has finally prevailed and that our request to honour the Queen in this way has now been approved.

“The paving stone will be a lasting tribute to the Queen in her Jubilee year and is especially fitting as there is also a plaque marking Queen Victoria’s golden jubilee at the town hall.”

The exterior of the Victorian town hall has recently undergone essential repairs and was cleaned to make sure it looked its best for the jubilee and Olympics.

The paving stone will be installed in October.
