Volunteers needed for Standards Committee
Published 7 June 2012
Ealing Council is looking for independent volunteers to sit on its Standards Committee, which is responsible for promoting and maintaining high standards of conduct by its councillors.
The role will include the requirement to sit on special panels that are convened to consider any serious complaints made about any councillors. Panel members will give their views before a decision is made about how the complaint is dealt with.
The volunteers must live or work in the borough, be able to demonstrate sound analytical and questioning skills and be familiar with ethical dilemmas.
Anyone putting themselves forward should also have an interest in local government, but cannot have been a councillor or employee at Ealing in the last five years, or be a close friend or relative of someone who is.
For more information or to obtain an application form, contact Linda Zimmerman or Una Sullivan on 020 8825 6253. The successful candidates will be provided with full training.
