Spikesbridge Park pavilion – can you build it?

Next month Ealing Council will start looking for a building company to start work on Spikesbridge Park’s new pavilion.
Last year the cabinet agreed to transform the park with plans to build a new sports pavilion with changing rooms, improve the football pitches and install new cricket facilities.
Since then the parks team has secured £195,000 from the Playsport London Facility Fund and £150,000 from Sport Englands Inspired Facilities Fund, in addition to the £100,000 from the London Marathon Charitable Trust awarded last year.
At its meeting last night the councils cabinet agreed to look for contractors to submit proposals to build the pavilion.
The council is already working in partnership with two charities, London Tigers, an Asian football project and local community organisation, Southall Community Alliance, to deliver the sports projects and activities once the building work is complete.
Councillor Julian Bell, Leader of the council, said: We are fully committed to improving the sports and recreation provisions in Spikesbridge Park . The vision for this project is being made possible by the council working closely with voluntary groups and sports charities and its great to see that some funding has already been secured. We still have a way to go, but we are definitely on the right path.
Ealing Council will be starting work on site to build the new sports and community facility in the summer.
The decision was made by the councils cabinet on Tuesday, 24 January 2012. All cabinet decisions are subject to call-in for a period of five working days from the date of publication of the minutes of the meeting.
