Local Development Framework

Changes introduced under the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 require us to prepare a new development plan for the borough. This is called the Local Development Framework (LDF).

The LDF is an emerging collection of documents that sets out how the borough will develop up to 2026.

It must be in conformity with the London Plan that is produced by Mayor of London.

When will the LDF replace the UDP?
The LDF will eventually replace our current Unitary Development Plan (UDP) that was adopted in 2004.  The UDP sets out the council's intentions for land use and development from 2002 to 2017. The council uses Ealing's UDP, together with the Mayor of London’s adopted London Plan July 2011 as the basis for dealing with planning applications.

Based on the current LDF timetable our UDP will be fully replaced by mid-2013.
