Council tax - exemptions

When we set council tax, we assume that two or more adults (over 18) live in the property. If only one adult lives in the property the council tax will be reduced by 25%. Some adults are not included in our assessment and certain properties are exempt from council tax.

Changes to council tax discounts for empty properties and second homes

From 1 April, the council is introducing changes to the level of council tax discounts for empty properties and properties occupied as second homes in the borough.
