Brent River Park

Brent River Park - Priority Parks

Ealing’s residents really love their green spaces, so it is perhaps no surprise that Brent River Park won £400,000 last year after they voted for it in their droves.

The park was up against stiff competition from 46 other parks across the capital for the Mayor of London’s scheme, but it secured the money after 4,648 residents cast their vote.

Now, the money is beginning to be allocated to projects to improve Brent River Park’s swathe of open land, which stretches out along the river, all the way from Brentham Meadows in Hanger Lane to Long Wood next to the M4. It takes in an array of natural gems along the way, including Pitshanger and Elthorne parks, and Brent Lodge Park Animal Centre (or ‘the Bunny Park’) in Hanwell, not to mention a number of other wild areas, golf courses, meadows and allotments.

Ealing Council decided to match the Mayor’s funding with a further £487,000 meaning there is close to £1million to spend – this will mean additional work can be done to other facilities in the park, such as refurbishing the playgrounds in Churchfields , Perivale Park, and Glade Lane Canalside Park.

Get involved
Lots of activities have been planned.  We want you to get involved and help us to make it as effective as it can possibly be.

‘Engagement groups’ made up of local people will help shape the work stage-by-stage as it unfolds, and will also help decide what to spend some of the funding on.

There are two types you can join:

  • Wider engagement group – This will cover the broad range of issues affecting all the projects
  • Detailed engagement groups – These will focus on each project in greater detail, with three of them looking at biodiversity, community and infrastructure

To get involved in the engagement groups:

  • email priorityparks@ealing.gov.uk indicating which group or groups you would like join or
  • write to Brent River Park Help a London Park Project, Leisure and Parks Service, Ealing Council, Perceval House, 14-16 Uxbridge Road, Ealing W5 2HL
