School travel plans

Ealing Council's school travel team organises initiatives for schools in the borough to promote the well being of children and raise awareness about safety issues on the journey to school.

Some of these initiatives are:

Walk on Wednesdays

This initiative centres on a simple badge reward scheme. If a student walks to school each Wednesday of the month, they receive a certificate and a badge. To date, 23 schools in Ealing participate in this scheme.

Cycle training

There are 31 schools taking part in on-road cycle training.

Walk to School Week

Walk to School Week is a chance for schools to focus on sustainable transport in a fun and accessible way for their students. In the past, Ealing Council has run various events for schools, such as road safety theatre for year 7 students and holding the longest ever walking bus.

The school travel team

The school travel team is here to help you. Our role is to:

  • identify and respond to road safety concerns for the journey to and from school
  • carry out competitions and campaigns to encourage walking and cycling to school
