Civil funerals

A civil funeral is a commemorative tribute to the memory of a loved one. It is driven by the wishes, beliefs and values of the deceased and their family, not by the beliefs or preferences of the person conducting the funeral. This means you will have a personalised, unique and individual ceremony, rather than a standard traditional funeral, modified to include the details of your dearly departed.

It is usually non-religious, although it can incorporate hymns, and religious and cultural elements. This makes it an ideal choice if you would like a funeral but you feel that any religious reference or theme would be inappropriate or against the wishes of the deceased.

A civil funeral ceremony can provide an opportunity to create the most appropriate and meaningful ceremony for this final act of love and respect.

If you would like to arrange a civil funeral please contact Ealing register office and we will put you in touch with our local civil funeral celebrant.
