Dormers Wells Play Centre to Greenford Recreation Ground
An easy walk around a residential area on pavements and
paths.
Start: The Green by Dormers Wells Play Centre
Distance: 2.5 miles
Time: Allow one and a half hours
Transport: Bus E5

Facilities: The Lord Allenby Public House
Directions
Start at The Green by the bus stop near the junction with
Marconi Way. Walk down Telford Road, turn right onto Dormers Wells
Lane, then right into the leisure centre entrance. Take the path by
the playing field past the leisure centre and round to the left.
Continue along Lovell Road. At the end turn into the alley on the
left, passing Allenby School, and emerge onto Allenby Road. Turn
right and when you reach the Lord Allenby pub, turn right up
Mansell Road. Opposite Portland Crescent, turn left into Greenford
Recreation Ground. Take the path right round and back to the gate.
Turn right down Mansell Road, left down Allenby Road, back through
Lovell Road and the alley, returning to the playing field. Return
to The Green by the path on the right alongside the leisure centre
as before, or take the shortcut straight ahead.
Southall Recreation Park
An easy, level walk around the park.
Start: The Sports Pavilion, Southall Recreation Park
Distance: 1.4 miles
Time: Under one hour

Facilities: The Old Oak Public House
Directions
Starting at the Sports Pavilion, walk the perimeter of the
park twice. Follow the path, turning right after the pavilion then
straight on past the tennis courts on the left. Go straight on,
past the nursery school on the right. Continue past the lodge and
the playground, both on the right. Continue on the path back to the
sports pavilion.
Brent Meadow to Top Locks
A pretty walk along riverside,
historic canal locks, and a park.
Start: Brent Meadow next to Hanwell Bridge
Distance: 2.5 miles
Time: Allow one hour

Directions
Meet in the meadow by Hanwell Bridge. Take the underpass
under the bridge, or steps down from the bridge (the underpass may
be flooded after wet weather). Walk along Fitzherbert Walk and turn
right onto the canal towpath. Walk past the Hanwell flight of
locks. After the three bridges turn right off the towpath into
Glade Lane Meadow, and walk across Canalside Park onto Glade Lane.
Turn left and walk along to Top Lock. Take the steps down to the
towpath, turn left and follow the towpath back to Fitzherbert Walk
and Brent Meadow.
Brent Meadow to Norwood Green
A pretty walk along riverside, canal locks, a park, and
woods to historic Norwood Green.
Start: Hanwell Bridge
Distance: 2.25 miles

Directions
Start in the meadow by Hanwell Bridge. Take the underpass
under the bridge, or steps down from the bridge (the underpass may
be flooded after wet weather). Walk along Fitzherbert Walk and turn
right onto the canal and follow the towpath as far as Top Lock,
passing the Hanwell flight of locks and the three bridges. At Top
Locks cross the bridge over the canal, turn left and walk down
Poplar Avenue to Tentelow Lane. Cross over to Osterley Sports Club,
and turn right. Walk through Tentelow Wood, taking the left turn
where the paths divide, and walk across the meadow back onto
Tentelow Lane. Turn left and walk along to Norwood Green. Cross the
green to bus 120.
Top Lock, Tentelow Wood and Norwood Green
A pretty walk along riverside, canal locks, a park, and
woods to historic Norwood Green.
Start: Top Lock
Distance: Two miles
Time: Allow one hour

Parking: Glade Lane
Facilities: The Plough Public House, Norwood Green, The Lamb
Public House, Southall and The Wolf Public House, Southall.
Directions
Walk over the bridge, turn left and walk down Poplar Avenue
to Tentelow Lane. Cross over to Osterley Sports Club, and turn
right. Walk through Tentelow Wood, taking the left turn where the
paths divide and walk across the meadow back onto Tentelow Lane.
Turn left and walk along to Norwood Green. Cross the road, walk
around the Green onto Norwood Road. Follow the road to the canal
bridge passing The Lamb Public House on the right. Walk over the
bridge, turn right down the slope to the canal towpath. Turn left
and continue along the towpath back to Top Lock.
Marnham Field and Boles Meadow
A lovely walk through the Brent River Park, with lots of
nature to enjoy. High Lane footpath is a little steep. Paths may be
muddy after wet weather.

Distance: Two miles
Time: Allow one hour

Parking: Roads around Greenford Cemetery

Directions
Walk down the lane towards the Brent River. Cross the bridge
and take the path straight ahead. Continue past Mayfield School on
your left, then turn right into High Lane. Pass a playground and
continue along High Lane footpath, past the stables, and come out
at the end onto Church Road. Turn right and walk straight down to
St Mary's Church. Take the footpath beside the church down to Boles
Meadow. Turn left over the bridge across the river. Turn right
along the path beside the cricket field and continue straight on
through the golf course. Bear left at the junction and walk back up
the path, past Marnham Field on the right, and back onto the
Greenford Road.
Spikes Bridge Park, Canal and Willow Tree Park
A more challenging walk adding a canal towpath loop to
the nature reserve and marina. Paths may be muddy after wet
weather. Not suitable for wheelchairs.

Distance: Three miles
Time: Allow 1 hour 45 minutes

Facilities: The Civil Engineer, Ruislip Road
Directions
From the park take the path past the play centre to the
canal. Turn right along the towpath, passing Cranleigh Woods on the
right and Willow Tree Marina on the left. At the bridge continue
along the towpath. After the factory, and just after you pass under
a footbridge, leave the canal by steps on the right. Turn right on
Ruislip Road to the traffic lights. Cross at the crossing and go
down Broadmead Road. Turn left at wooden fences onto a path with
houses on the right. At a t-junction, turn left into Willow Tree
Park. At a crossroads take the path straight ahead, which curves
round to a bridge across the canal. At the bottom turn left and
return to Spikes Bridge Park along towpath.
Spikes Bridge Park and Willow Tree Nature Reserve
A more challenging walk to a nature reserve and a
marina. Paths may be muddy after wet weather. Not suitable for
wheelchairs.

Directions
From the park take the path past the play centre to the
canal. Turn right along the towpath, passing Cranleigh Woods on the
right and Willow Tree Marina on the left, to the bridge. Walk over
the bridge, turn left and bear round to the right. Follow the path
with the hedge on your left, and continue across a more open
space.
Turn left, and with the pond on your right, take a path enclosed by wire fencing. Follow the marked path on the right and cross a wooden footbridge taking you down to the canalside. You will see a millennium mosaic on your right. Follow the path round to the right to Willow Tree Marina. Take the same route back.
Circular walk around Southall Park
An easy, level walk around the park.
Start: The Play Centre, Southall Park
Distance: 1.4 miles
Time: Under an hour

Facilities: Toilets in the park, cafés in Southall
Directions
Walk two laps of the perimeter. Keeping to the path, pass the
pond and nature conservation area on the left. Walk on past the
bowling green, and past the bowling pavilion on the right. Keeping
to the path, walk past the tennis courts and follow the path round
the perimeter of the park back to the play centre.
