Contractors wishing to join our approved list and get the chance to compete for our contracts should follow this process:

  1. Join Constructionline , the  BIS-approved national register of pre-qualified contractors to the construction industry. By completing Constructionline’s pre-qualification process, contractors reduce the need to fill in pre-qualification forms for every tender and become visible to over 1,700 buyers.
  2. Join CHAS , the Contractors’ Health and Safety Assessment Scheme. This doesn't apply to consultants, who we don't ask for CHAS compliance.
  3. Make sure that you have got insurance cover that meets our minimum requirements. We ask for employer’s liability insurance of at least £10 million and public liability insurance of at least £5 million. Consultants also need professional indemnity insurance of at least £2m.
