Sheltered housing is grouped in blocks specially designed for older people. It can provide different types of support for residents.
Each resident is provided with their own flat and some flats are linked by heated corridors to shared facilities such as a common room, laundry or guest room. There are 34 schemes of this type in the borough. They vary in size from 18 to 70 flats. The average number is between 30 and 35.
To apply for sheltered housing you will need to apply to go on the housing register.
