The authorised skip company is responsible for applying for a skip permit. Authorised skip companies need to apply for a permit before placing a skip on a public road. A permit is not needed if the skip is located on private land (eg garden).
The council charges £50 for a skip permit, which is valid for 14 days from the issue date. If a skip company needs a permit for longer than 14 days they must apply for a new permit.
Reporting an illegal skip
Skips that do not have a permit or are in breach the permit regulations and should be reported using the online form.
