Stray dogs

The council has a duty under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 section 149/150 to collect stray dogs.

The service:

  • 9am-4pm Monday-Friday (stray): The council will pick up a stray dog (if practical) both if its roaming free and not under the control of any person, tel: (020) 8825 6000.
  • 24 hours a day, seven days a week (confined): When a person has found a dog roaming, they will need to take the dog home and confine it. The out of hours service who can be reached on the same number, will only collect confined dogs ie: in the house, shed or garage. The dog will be taken to kennels.
  • If a stray dog can be identified, the owner can be contacted, and lives within the London Borough of Ealing, the dog will be returned to them.

If the owner can not be identified or contacted the dog will be gifted for re-homing.
