Major works FAQs

How does Ealing Council decide what work needs to be carried out?
-
The windows of your block form part of the structure of the block. Leaseholders do not have permission to replace their windows unless they, along with the other homeowners in their block, have varied their lease to formally take ownership of the block's windows. This is known as a Deed of Variation.
If you have replaced the windows in your property without seeking a variation of your lease, your windows will be assessed to determine whether they meet the required standard. If they do not, they will be replaced.
If your windows meet the required standard they will not be replaced. However, you will still be expected to pay your actual proportion of costs, which will include your share of the cost of replacing any windows across the block.
