Community benefits team
The community benefits team provides advice and assistance on welfare benefits primarily for vulnerable client groups such as people with mental health needs, physical disabilities and older people.
The team provides help with:
- identifying appropriate benefits and services
- completing and submitting claims
- appeals and tribunal processes
The advice provided by the team is in accordance with legislation, statutory requirements and the council's policies and procedures.

Referrals
To access our service a referral must be made by a
professional in the health and/or social care sector. Referrals can
be made from mental health resource centres, adult day centres, the
health service, social care and social work staff and professional
workers from voluntary organisations.
To make a referral the professional will need to complete the
referral form (word) and read the
guidance notes (word).

If we are unable to help, ie where there is a requirement for a
service that we do not provide, we will identify and refer the
client to an appropriate service.
