Freedom Pass

A Freedom Pass gives people with disabilities or visual impairments, and older people free travel on buses, underground, trains, trams and DLR services in London.

Residents aged 60 or above need to apply for a pass at a post office and not to the council.

New applicants can apply at any time and existing holders will be asked to re-apply every two years.  The next re-issue will start in February 2008.

To qualify
To qualify for a Freedom Pass you must live in this borough and fall into one of the following categories:

How to apply
Residents aged 60 or over need to apply at their local Post Office for an Older Persons Freedom Pass.

For a blind or disabled persons Freedom Pass complete and print out the Freedom pass application form (word). Alternatively you can get an application form from your local social services reception point or telephone (020) 8825 8000 if you want a form posted to you.

You will need to go in person to your local social services reception point with the completed application form and documentary evidence. If your application is successful, you will also need to provide two recent colour passport-style photographs of yourself (please sign them on the back).

If your pass is faulty or damaged, the reception point will issue a replacement in exchange for the original. If your pass is lost or stolen, it must be reported to the police and a crime number obtained before a replacement is issued (please allow five working days).
