Care and housing schemes
The CHOICE scheme provides support to people with learning disabilities living in their own homes, either rented through a housing association, charity or through home ownership. We provide a supported living service, which varies from outreach support of a few hours a week to 24-hour support.

The SPACE scheme (Scheme for Placing Adults with Carers in Ealing) provides placements for adults with learning disabilities in supportive households with carers. It gives the person with a learning disability the opportunity to take part in everyday activities, mix with other household members and meet family and friends.

The scheme also provides respite care for adults with learning disabilities and their primary carers. The respite can range from a few hours a day, overnight to longer stays.

Respite care enables the primary carer of the person with a learning disability to have a break from caring and time for themselves.  It gives the individual with a learning disability the opportunity to make new friends and learn new skills that can become a step towards independence.

Referrals to the SPACE and CHOICE schemes are made by the community team for people with learning disabilities.  To request a referral or for further information telephone the team on (020) 8566 2360.  Referred individuals will be assessed by a care manager first.

The team can then provide individual packages of support, which can range from two hours per week to a 24-hour service.

Short break service
The council's short break service provides short breaks or respite care for adults with learning disabilities in Ealing. It has 10 beds and supports approximately 100 families. The service offers planned breaks and will also take people if there is an emergency and an available bed.
