Environmental aids
Environmental aids can be provided to help deaf and
hard of hearing people living in the borough to help them lead more
independent lives such as:
- telephone amplifiers
- flashing light doorbells
- alarm clocks
- loop systems for the TV/personal listeners
- textphones/minicoms
- smoke alarms for those who qualify the priority requirements

Hearing aids
For a hearing test please go your to GP to get an
audiology appointment. A hearing aid clinic is held at our office
every Tuesday and Thursday from 10am-12.30pm. An audiology
consultant from Ealing Hospital Audiology Clinic attends the clinic
every third week of the month from 11am-12pm.
Interpretation and lip reading
Deaf and hard of hearing people who live in the
borough can book the free interpreting service, which provides BSL
interpreters, Palantypists, lipspeakers or note takers for hospital
and council appointments. deafPLUS can also provide information and
help with booking interpreting services for other appointments.
Support
Our advocacy co-ordinator can help deaf and hard of
hearing people living in the borough with issues such as:
- benefits and pension credits
- Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and Attendance Allowance (AA)
- housing - housing benefit, council tax benefit and other housing issues
- access to council services
- where to get legal advice

Typetalk
This is the only national telephone relay service,
which enables deaf, deaf blind, deafened, hard of hearing and
speech-impaired people to communicate with hearing people anywhere
in the world. It is run by the
RNID
and funded by BT.

Support is provided on a wide range of issues for the
BME/Asian deaf and hard of hearing community. For further
