Childcare sufficiency assessment

A requirement of the Childcare Act 2006 is that all local authorities (LA's) must consult with parents, employers and childcare providers on whether there is enough childcare provision in the local area, to enable parents to work or to undertake training leading to work.

To ensure a thorough outcome, these consultation methods were used:

a survey was put together for parents and made available online and through targeted mailings
face-face parent consultation events were held
a survey was designed for childcare providers to complete
focus groups were set up with childcare providers
an employer survey went out to local businesses
