Holiday playschemes
Holiday playschemes offer fun and stimulating childcare for children aged 4–12 years, which will help develop all aspects of learning by combining care and education with a friendly, sociable but secure environment.
Ofsted registration
All play service schemes are registered and inspected by the
Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) against the national
standards for out-of-school care. Each centre holds a copy of the
most recent inspection report and certificate of registration.
These may be viewed on request.
Objectives
All playscheme centres adhere to the government's
Every Child Matters objectives: be healthy, stay safe,
enjoy and achieve through learning, make a positive contribution to
society and achieve economic well-being.
Opening hours
Holiday playschemes are open between
8.30am-5.45pm.
Venues
Venues and dates will vary depending on demand and
time of year. Please note: You will need to provide your
first choice and an alternative second choice in case of
unavailability.
Activities
A themed programme of activities will be provided each week
and will be displayed for parents and carers. These will include
activities such as arts and crafts, games, drama and cooking.
Children are free to choose between structured activities, to use the free play equipment available or to socialise with friends.
Packed lunches
Child are required to bring a packed lunch. We recommend
that you do not include any nut products, fizzy drinks, sweets or
dairy products in their lunch boxes. We actively promote healthy
eating at all our centres instead of chocolate and crisps, why not
try: carrot sticks, raisins, or banana chips. The scheme will
provide some drinks.
Late collection
The service is staffed until 5.45pm. Children
must be collected by this time. If your child is not collected on
time a late fee of £20 per half hour will be charged, which will go
towards extra staff and caretaker costs incurred.
Other information
We recommend that:
Costs
£55 a week for the first child
£50 for any subsequent children from the same family.
