Common Assessment Framework training
The CAF training is provided on three levels, as follows:
1.
Managers’ Briefing (half-day sessions)
A course for managers of practitioners who will be initiating
and contributing to integrated working and will therefore require
support and guidance from their direct line managers.
2.
Using the Common Assessment Framework (full-day
sessions)
A course for those practitioners who have responsibility for
initiating and contributing to the CAF process and therefore may
undertake the role of lead professional.
People who should take this course include frontline practitioners involved in the Common Assessment Framework. If you are unsure whether it is applicable to you please discuss this with your line manager or contact one of the ECM Development Officers.
Learning outcomes:

Understand the benefits of Common Assessment, the potential barriers to its implementation and how we can overcome them

Be able to use the Common Assessment – and identify when it might be appropriate and when it would not

Understand and use the processes involved in the Common Assessment Framework

Apply good practice in assessment across agencies, especially in the positive engagement of service users
-
Understand the content of the Pre-Assessment Checklist and the Common Assessment form and know what makes a well-completed assessment

Understand the role and responsibilities of a lead professional and how they relate to the Common Assessment Framework
3.
Integrated working awareness (30 minute to
one-hour sessions)
A presentation for all staff who need to know about the CAF
(especially those who may request/initiate CAFs), but may not
directly undertake the CAF assessment and/ or complete the CAF.
Learning Outcomes:

Understand reason and purpose for a Common assessment Framework (CAF)

Understand how CAF will lead to better outcomes for children, young people and their families, and is part of Integrated Working locally and more widely within Ealing

Be familiar with the CAF form and process
Note: The Integrated Working Awareness sessions are arranged on a needs basis. Please contact the appropriate ECM Development Officer if you’re interested in having one at your work-place.
How to book a training session
To reserve your space at one of these free sessions, please complete the CAF training application form (word) and return it to EEC@ealing.gov.uk. The sessions will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis and attendees must register in advance.

You must complete the application form and return as above

You MUST attend the course for the entire session time. If you are not able to do this you will be asked to transfer onto an alternative date

The training is free, however, we reserve the right to charge participants £50.00 for non attendance and will contact managers to inform them

Certificates will be provided at the end of each course
We will prioritise attendance to maintain an appropriate mix of agencies on the training. If you find that you are unable to attend the session(s) you have booked, please ensure you cancel your place, providing at least 3 days notice, by either emailing EEC@ealing.gov.uk, (020) 8578 6163) or writing to CPD & Training, Ealing Education Centre, Mansell Road, Greenford UB6 9EG.
