Feedback from Ealing Metropolitan Town Centre public meeting
Over 180 people came along to have their say on the future of
Ealing Broadway and West Ealing on 19 June. The public meeting was
held to ask local residents what they think of the town centre
development framework proposals and find out how they think the
£3million regeneration fund should be spent"
People were talking about enhancements to the transport
interchange at Ealing Broadway and Haven Green, community
infrastructure, improvements in West Ealing, proposed enhancements
to Pitzhanger Manor and Walpole Park, and improvements to the
public realm at Bond Street and Ealing Green.
Thoughts on the main themes talked about include:
-
Agreement that Haven Green and Station Approach need to
work much more effectively as a transport interchange. Also
that a new bus station would be better located over the railway
lines at a redeveloped Ealing Broadway station, rather than at
east side of Haven Green as proposed
-
Agreement that park railings shouldn’t be removed at Dean
Gardens. Also that a green link through a redeveloped Green Man
Lane Estate between West Ealing the town centre and an improved
Jacob’s Ladder railway crossing would be a positive improvement
and help with north – south links.
-
Agreement that enhancements to Pitzhanger Manor and
Walpole Park can help them reach their potential, including
improved links and access, and that this area should be
developed as a cultural quarter and unique selling point.
-
Agreement that green space at Ealing Green ‘triangle’
should be retained and not replaced by hard landscaping. Also
that Bond Street improvements need to focus on making it more
pedestrian friendly.
-
Agreement that additional health and education provision
is essential, especially with potential new developments, and
that this should meet the needs of both the existing and new
population.
