A stunning and vibrant giant mural inspired by sea life created through an exciting collaboration between young patients on the children’s ward at Ealing Hospital and students at Belvue School, age 4-15.
The workshop based project was facilitated by local artist, Sharon Cole-Brown, initially based in the 'school room' at Ealing Hospital. Young patients made small collages using a variety of materials such as fabric, glitter, shells and plaster animals. These were later incorporated to make the final mural by students at Belvue School.
The project proved very successful in its aim of providing an alternative, creative activity for patients on the children’s ward. It offered a peaceful, calming interception to the medical routine, as well as a positive distraction during what can be an uncertain time for children who are not feeling their best.
The mural is accompanied by documentation images taken from the workshops and is due to tour to Ealing Hospital and Belvue School from mid May to July.
