St Bernard's Hospital Library

The hospital library is run jointly with the West London Mental Health NHS Trust. It provides a service to the in-patients of the hospital as well as day patients and staff. We always try to obtain books that people ask us for, this also includes informational requests and other non-book materials.

The Limes visits
A feature of the Hospital Library is the weekly visits to the Limes- an old persons home run by the trust in Southall where readings from novels, poetry and reminiscences are given to groups of patients.

Stock for loan

We have a small collection of videos that we loan to the wards, particularly the Regional Secure Unit who do not have access to outside facilities.

We provide a wide selection of newspapers for our clients - The Independent, The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Mirror, The Mail, The Express and The Sun as well as The Ealing Gazette and The Universe.

Our book stock is tailored towards our clients, providing self-help books and books on mental health topics such as schizophrenia, depression, mood swings, alcoholism, panic attacks, phobias, dementia, stress and other books of a psychiatric nature.

We have many novels and other non-fiction books for recreational and rehabilitative study as well as a reference section for consultation. Some cassettes and audio books are available as well as Asian books in Hindi, Panjabi, Bengali, Urdu and Gujerati.
