Go Green at Ealing Summer
At the Ealing Summer festivals we are aiming to reduce the impact that our events have on the environment. Where possible we choose products and contractors that use the most environmentally friendly methods and we are aiming to recycle as much waste as possible in 2008.
Biofuels
In 2007 the Greenford Carnival and the Literary Festival were run on 100% biofuels, mostly made from waste oil and not taking oil crops out of the food market. We plan to expand our usage in the future.
Switch it off!
We reviewed the amount of power we used in 2007 and made sure that any non-essential power was switched off when not in use and not left on standby overnight, reducing fuel use by about 30%.
Recycling
Our aim is to maximise the recycling of all waste at Ealing Summer festivals this year, so please help us to do this by putting your rubbish in the correct bins.
Eat your greens
For the first time all knives, forks, packaging and consumables used by the food traders at the events will be 100% compostable. All beer cups will be compostable too, so make sure you put them into the compost bins.
