This year’s Jazz Festival features the works of artist Sergiy Shkanov.
Sergiy Shkanov is a professional artist working in the field of painting and graphic arts, stained glass, also in performance and installation. Shkanov paints primarily in the abstract style, which allows him to work deeply and intensively with colour.
He is establishing an international reputation, having held exhibitions in Ukraine, Poland, Netherlands, Austria, and United Kingdom.
“My long standing passion with jazz and rock music has led to this series of portraits of well known musicians. For me, listening to music is like a journey to another dimension, another epoch, and another time frame where there is a play of pictures, colour, light, movement and rhythm, “ says Sergiy.
“In my paintings I have tried to recreate the feelings and thoughts that envelope me when I listen to my favourite singers and musicians - Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Janis Joplin, Miles Davis and Ray Charles. I hope that in seeing these paintings you will be able, for a short while at least, to enter into that world and share those feelings.”
