Accessibility
It is our aim at Ealing Summer Festivals to make the events as enjoyable as possible for everyone. We are working on improving the access and facilities that we have at the events for our disabled customers.
Attitude is Everything attended our events in 2007 and have advised us on ways that we can improve access and facilities for our disabled customers. We are working towards their bronze charter for disabled access at music events and are working to produce the same standard for our non-music events.
Booking tickets
For the Comedy and Opera festivals we advise wheelchair users or people with other specific access requirements to book using the See Tickets telephone line rather than online. This way, the ticketing staff can allocate you a seat in a pre-defined area that is most suitable for you. Please book early as seats may be unavailable if you leave it too late. The booking line number is 0871 620 401 (Calls are charged at 10p per minute from a standard BT line).
For all other events, tickets can be purchased on the day from the onsite box office. Our onsite staff will be able to answer any questions you may have.
2 for 1 scheme
We have introduced a 2 for 1 scheme for the first time this year so that our disabled customers can bring a carer or friend for free. This scheme is available to people who are registered disabled, wheelchair users and those with sight and hearing impairments.
For the Comedy and Opera events you’ll need to book your tickets using the See Tickets telephone line When booking, let See Tickets know that you are a disabled customer and that you would like to take advantage of the 2 for 1 scheme. Your carer's ticket will then be given for free. It will however still be subject to booking and transaction fees – see box office for full details of charges. You may be asked to provide proof of your disability such as a copy of a recent Disability Living Allowance letter.
For all other events, just come to the box office with your carer or friend and a copy of recent Disability Living Allowance letter and we will give your a free ticket.
Transport and parking
All of the Ealing Summer events are close to public transport links. However, none of the closest tube stations have step free access. There are also many bus links to the events. Please see how to get there for full transport details.
Blue badge holders can park onsite at the events. Please contact the events team in advance to arrange your parking on (020) 8825 6640 or email events@ealing.gov.uk
Specific access or information requirements
If you have any specific access requirements or need information in a different format, please contact the events team directly on (020) 8825 6640 or email events@ealing.gov.uk
Site layouts and facilities
All of the Ealing Summer events are held in parks. They therefore do have some pathways but are mainly greenfield sites with uneven ground. All of the event sites are located close to public transport links. The largest of the events, the London Mela can get very busy and is on a slightly sloping site.
Disabled toilet facilities are available at all Ealing Summer events. St Johns Ambulance are onsite and able to assist with any particular medical issues you may have.
Improvements for 2008
We are looking at making many access improvements to our events in 2008. These include:
-
disability equality training sessions for event staff
-
viewing platforms at Ealing Summer music events.
-
installation of a portable induction loop at the onsite box offices.
-
installation of infrared assisted hearing.
-
improved information for disabled customers.
-
improved signage at all sites.
If you have been to the events before and have any comments or ideas for access improvements, please let us know on (020) 8825 6640 or events@ealing.gov.uk
