Sheltered housing

Sheltered housing is grouped in blocks specially designed for older people. It can provide different types of support for residents.

Each resident is provided with their own flat and some flats are linked by heated corridors to shared facilities such as a common room, laundry or guest room. There are 34 schemes of this type in the borough. They vary in size from 17 to 62 flats. The average number is between 30 and 35.

There are a number of housing associations that have leasehold sheltered accommodation within the borough to purchase.

Sheltered housing to rent

Flats are unfurnished and are rented the same way as other council housing.
