Grant conditions
List of income related benefits:

pension credit with guarantee credit
-
working tax credit with an income below £15,460
-
child tax credit with an income below £15,460
-
income support
-
income based job seekers allowance
-
housing benefit
-
council tax benefit (not single person discount)
The following conditions apply to all grants:
-
unless the council has given written permission
(except handyperson or handyperson plus grants)
for the works to be started prior to grant approval, no grant
will be paid if the works were started before a grant approval
notice was issued

the council’s repairs and adaptations service or home
improvement agency will act as agent in every case to
enhance customer care, ensure quality of work and guard against
fraud
-
the grant work must be carried out by an authorised
contractor selected by the council’s repairs and adaptations
service or home improvement agency

grant payments will be made direct to the contractor
-
works must be completed within 12 months of grant
approval
-
all properties receiving grant aid must on completion of
the work be made energy efficient and be fitted with smoke and
carbon monoxide alarms (except handyperson
plus grants)

other relevant statutory grant conditions apply as set out
in a separate document obtainable from the council’s repairs
and adaptations service
Please note that all grants that are marked "(discretionary)"
are subject to the council having sufficient funds to approve the
work.
