This scheme can help older owner-occupiers who do not qualify for the various grants detailed in this section. The council’s home improvement agency (HIA) can assist by referring you to an approved contractor to carry out repair work at your own expense and without grant aid. (Note: this service is only available for work costing less than £10,000)

The contractors who provide this service have been approved by the council. This means that they have been checked financially, hold current public liability insurance, and have been working with the council without problems for a considerable period of time.
