Boilers
You could save £80-£120 on your fuel bills each year by
replacing an old boiler with a more energy efficient condensing
boiler as condensing boilers use less fuel to produce the same
heat. If your boiler is over 15 years old or frequently breaking
down you should think about installing a high efficiency condensing
boiler.
Ealing Council schemes
If you are over 60 or disabled you could qualify for a
free five year warranty and service package. It is available to
owner occupiers for replacing broken/inefficient boilers with a new
Baxi Platinum range condensing boiler. Work must be carried out by
Ealing HIA’s approved contractor and include updating controls (if
necessary). To qualify for assistance the applicant must either/or
be aged over 60 or disabled on the date of the application. Please
contact Ealing Council’s repairs and adaptations service on (020)
8825 6070 for further details.
Energy Smart
If you are aged under 60 and not on benefits, Energy Smart in
partnership with Ealing Council provide discounts on a range of
high efficiency boilers. Prices range from £310 to over £1000. The
boiler that you need will depend on the size of your central
heating system, the space you have available, and the type of
boiler you need.

Energy Smart.

'Warm Front' Scheme
A combination of poor energy efficiency and low incomes mean
that some households cannot afford to keep warm. The Warm
Front scheme run by the government is used to help target these
households.
This scheme is most useful for homeowners and people who rent their homes from private landlords. If you receive one or more income or disability related government benefits, you may be eligible for a government funded Warm Front grant to help pay for insulating your home. In some cases, you may be able to get a grant for installing a heating system.
The Warm Front Scheme is part of the Government Home Energy Efficiency Scheme in England, a grant-funded programme for those on low incomes.
Warm Front provides packages of insulation and heating measures depending upon the needs of the householder and the construction of the property.
DEFRA is the government body that has overall responsibility for policy for Warm Front and those on low incomes. Further information is available on the Defra website.
