Tenant management
An agreement is made between the TMO and the council agreeing
what each party is responsible for. The council still own the
properties and the tenants keep their council tenancies.
TMOs can take over most of the management of an area or
concentrate on a few functions. These functions include:
- letting homes to new tenants
- day-to-day repairs and maintenance
- caretaking and cleaning
- dealing with neighbour disputes
- collecting rent and chasing arrears
- keeping tenants informed and listen to them
- employing staff
- controlling the budget for the management and maintenance of the estate
