Verges
The majority of grass verges next to roads are within the public highway, and come under the responsibility of the council as highway authority. Transport for London (TFL) is responsible for verges next to major roads.
In fulfilling its responsibilities the council and TFL is required to keep verges safe and unobstructed, particularly at road junctions where clear visibility for motorists and pedestrians is important.
The council arranges grass cutting via external contractors.
