Gully cleaning

A gully consists of a concrete pot positioned under the road surface with an iron grate visible from the road. The water collects in the concrete pot and is then channelled through a series of pipes before connecting into the main sewer network. Sometimes these pipes and channels become blocked with soil, dead leaves and rubbish, preventing the free flow of water to the main sewer.

The council cleans the gullies of all council maintained highways and subway drainage systems.

Reporting a problem
You can report a blocked gully by completing the reporting a defect form (word) and emailing it to Ealing Customer Services. The only drains the council is responsible for are gullies. Any other drainage issues should be referred to Thames Water 0845 9200 800.
