Hanwell 'Walkability'

In 2004, Living Streets  prepared a 'Walkability' study for Hanwell. Living Streets is a national charity that campaigns to create better streets and public spaces for people on foot.

The council, with funding from Transport for London (TfL), has started the following projects recommended in the 'Walkability' study.

Station Road
The council will construct a raised table across Station Road to Hanwell Clock Tower to 'pedestrianised' the area in 2007/08. The raised table will provide a constant level along this key walking route to the Hanwell Town Centre.

Hanwell Station Access
The Hanwell Station Access project will improve pedestrian and cycle links to and from the station. The works include tactile pavement at crossings, improved lighting and signage, repaving of the station forecourt and CCTV. The plans also identify improvements that will be installed if the council’s aspiration of opening the southern entrance to the station receives funding.

Church Road Pedestrian Facilities
The council is investigating the installation of a pedestrian phase at the Church Road/Uxbridge Road junction. The investigation will consider the following issues to determine the feasibility of the scheme:
