Greenford Green Land Use and Planning Strategy
The area identified in the council’s Unitary Development Plan and Local Development Framework as the Greenford Green Employment Area has been the site of industrial and business uses since 1856. The area experienced significant stepped growth coinciding with transport improvements from the early 1900’s .
The mix of businesses and their fortunes has changed over the years. With the decline of manufacturing, the area is being redefined as a warehouse and distribution precinct – supported by its close proximity to the A40.
The council commissioned consultants to undertake a study on transport in the employment area. The study was funded from government money (Section 106), specifically for the purpose of addressing the impacts of further redevelopment.
