Storage tanks and boilers
You can dispose of storage tanks and boilers at Greenford Road Re-use and Recycling centre as long as they do not contain any form of asbestos. If they do contain asbestos, you can take them to the West London Waste Authority site in Victoria Road, South Ruislip. For more information, call them on (020) 8841 4546.

About Greenford Road Re-use and Recycling centre
The site, previously called Greenford Waste and Recycling Centre focuses on re-use and recycling - visitors can recycle a wide range of goods ranging from traditional items such as glass bottles, garden waste and paper to more unusual items like mobile phones and paint.

Many items deposited in the centre, such as furniture, books, CDs and small electrical goods are provided to charities. Items are then distributed by charities to those in need (such as families with low incomes). Charities that are receiving items include The Salvation Army and the Rotary club. There is also a paint re-use scheme, which collects half-used tins of paint for schools, charities or community groups. If you would like to collect some paint, please call May Gurney (formerly ECT Recycling) on (020) 8813 3880.

Colourful and simple signs detail where each type of waste should be placed, and information sheets have been translated into six different languages to further assist visitors on site.

The centre was redeveloped in 2003 to help increase Ealing's recycling rates. High targets have been set by central government to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill sites, which contribute to the greenhouse effect and global warming.

Previously the sites recycling rates averaged 8%, the current average rate is up to 50% and is improving all the time.
