Flats recycling service
The flats recycling service is a free recycling service for residents who live in blocks of over 25 flats. There will be a set of five recycling bins, locked in a secure frame located close to your flats making it more convenient for you to recycle the following items:
-
paper - newspapers, magazines, envelopes, white-page directories, catalogues and junk mail (no yellow pages or cardboard)
-
cans - all food and drink cans, foil and aerosols (no gas canisters or spray paints or foil crisp packets)
-
glass - green, brown and clear bottles and jars (no drinking glasses or Pyrex)
The bins are emptied once a week. Find your recycling and refuse collection day by visiting the May Gurney (formerly ECT Recycling) online database.
Recyclable materials that are not accepted in the flats recycling service can be deposited at one of the neighbourhood recycling sites and re-use and recycling centres.
If you require recycling for your flats, contact Ealing Council Customer Services on (020) 8825 6000; email: customers@ealing.gov.uk. Alternatively please look at our frequently asked questions. Please note that there is currently a waiting list.
Residents who live in a block of 12 flats or less may be eligible for the green box collection service. Please contact us using the details above and we will send a supervisor out to visit your property to check if it is suitable.
Mixed recycling collection trial from small blocks of
flats, flats above shops and red routes
For residents who live in a block of 13-24 flats, in flats
above shops and in properties on red routes, the council is
looking at how best to provide recycling collections, as the green
box collection service does not suit these property types.
The council is currently conducting a recycling collection trial to find out the best collection methods for these property types. There are 1000 properties included within the trial and if your property is included we will have contacted you by letter and visited your home to explain the service.
