Commercial noise

Complaints about noise from commercial premises are investigated and action is taken if the noise amounts to a statutory noise nuisance. At the planning stage of a commercial development conditions are imposed to prevent the premises affecting residential neighbours.

Noise from stationery generators and compressors
It may not be possible to silence some generators, particularly if they are temporary and ensure the public's safety.  

Noise from premises
Complaints about licensed premises or public entertainments premises will be forwarded to the licensing officer or council's sub-committee - respectively - for consideration before the renewal of the licence. Noise from factories, construction sites, and public works will be investigated, however it is accepted that noise from construction sites is often short lived, and subject to the best practicable means defence.
