Ealing Council's school travel team organises initiatives for schools in the borough to promote the well being of children and raise awareness about safety issues on the journey to school.
Some of these initiatives are:
Walk on Wednesdays
This initiative centres on a simple badge reward scheme. If a
student walks to school each Wednesday of the month, they receive a
certificate and a badge. To date, eight schools in Ealing
participate in this scheme.
Cycle training
There are 31 schools taking part in on-road cycle
training.
Walk to School Week
Held bi-annually, Walk to School Week is a chance
for schools to focus on sustainable transport in a fun and
accessible way for their students. In the past, Ealing Council has
run various events for schools, such as road safety theatre for
year 7 students and holding the longest ever walking bus. This year
Walk to School week runs from 2 October to 6 October 2006.
